White milk dripping from slashed breasts down black velvet dress. Sailors are gone into the see and they never come back. Pregnant mermaid is left on the shore. She cuts her belly open with a razor and pulls out her baby fish. He will never return.
My father’s father was a sailor and he abandoned my father, just like my father abandoned me and my mother and he never came back. I made this costume first for a Do-Theatre production, ‘Piat’, in Moscow. I was not completely satisfied with the way it was used. Later, I made the same design for myself with some special effects.
